The exhibition room is horizontally divided by white textile fabric into two distinct spaces. The observer enters the lower part under the textile. In the middle of the separating fabric is a loop-hole which allows observation of the space above. The through-view is placed approximately 150 cm above ground while at the sides the textile fabric is attached at a height of 225 cm. This creates a convex shape of the hanging textile when viewed from beneath, and a concave shape when viewed from above through the loop-hole.
The project works with an observer entering into a space where they are given the possibility of glancing into the space above the surface, yet no chance to enter this upper space. The observer can view the upper space only from the single point - through the loop-hole. The space beneath the textile becomes more constrained for the observer as they near the loop-hole only to have the upper space open around them a moment later with the effect of the concave shape of the hanging textile mirroring the cylindrical vault of the installation ceiling. |
